'I never even considered it as beef,' Cannon says.

Nick Cannon was pretty steamed over Eminem's brutal lampooning of the singer and his wife, Mariah Carey, in the song "Bagpipes from Baghdad, which appears on Eminem's new LP, Relapse. Cannon wrote and then quickly took down a long blog post where he accused Eminem of being racially insensitive and "still obsessed with my wife, the same female that wouldn't let him get to second base from eight years ago"; Eminem later said Cannon had misinterpreted the song.

Entertainment Weekly talked with Cannon on Thursday about the issue.

"I felt like I said what I had to say," Cannon said. "I didn't take [the post] down, like, 'Oh, somebody instructed me to do it' or anything like that. It was just one of those things, like, I said it."

As for the real reason he took the post down, Cannon said it had to do with the traffic to his Web site, which "pretty much crashed my site. There'd be thousands and thousands of comments and people couldn't leave comments on other posts or any of that stuff. So that was the only reason why I took it down."

And while noted that he doesn't have any regrets about what he said — "I feel exactly the same way by it and stick by everything, but I think it's one of those things where it becomes that it's not really that big of a deal, you know?" — he did say he has no beef with the MC.

"I never even considered it as beef," he said. "It's not beef. It's just, Hey, I heard the record. I said what I had to say."

Cannon went on to praise his relationship with Carey. "I feel that my relationship with my wife is one of the best things — or the best thing — that's ever happened to me, and it has nothing to do with celebrity or this industry. It's all about, you know, just love and finding love and being happy and respecting the union that it is."

Though we still don't agree with Lady Gaga that they're the new Beatles, it's no surprise that the Jonas Brothers get a big reception across the big pond. When Nick, Joe and Kevin went to London on Wednesday for the premiere of "The Jonas Brothers: The 3-D Experience," they were met by the usual gaggle of screaming teenage girls.

"We don't get to do this every day, but this is definitely crazy," Kevin said, while middle brother Joe added, "It's exciting. I think you don't know what to expect when you do this, and this is the highlight for us."

The boys, who took MTV News along on their whirlwind Theater Invasion Tour when the movie opened Stateside, reiterated the purpose of their concert film. " 'The Jonas Brothers Experience' is a movie we made for our fans," Kevin explained. "We wanted them to experience what it was like to go to a show and get the perspective of being onstage with us. We wanted to put as much of our personal life, as much of our onstage life in it as we could."

For many American JoBros fans, the big highlight of the film is one scene where the guys are caught shirtless. We can't imagine their British counterparts would disagree. "The thing is, we were in the midst of the show, so we were just continuing like a show," Nick explained of the scene. "So when we went backstage, we didn't realize they were there and we were changing ... we went, 'Oh, my gosh! Wow! We might want to get them out of here.' So it was in the moment."

Will the vampires grab more trophies than the slumdog? What was the year's ultimate onscreen WTF moment? It's up to you to decide the winners of the 2009 MTV Movie Awards. Vote now, and tune in on May 31 at 9 p.m. ET, when the big show airs live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.

Check out everything we've got on "Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience."

Danny Gokey Wants To Start A Musical 'Movement' After 'American Idol'

He predicts finale between Adam Lambert and Kris Allen will be 'a very tight race.'
By Katie Byrne

Danny Gokey

Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty Images

Danny Gokey has been a pretty big punching bag on this season of "American Idol." But despite his detractors, the 28-year-old from Milwaukee made it to the top three and was expected to coast to the finale.

After Tuesday's performance, however, Gokey was sent home, leaving Adam Lambert and Kris Allen to duke it out in next week's finale.

We caught up with the latest castoff on Thursday (May 14) to talk about the scream heard 'round the world, Simon Cowell's blatant lobbying for Lambert and his future in the eyeglass industry.

Q: Do you think your much-discussed scream at the end of "Dream On" last week might have been the beginning of the end of your time on the show?

A: Who knows? I was actually thinking about that this morning. I was like, "Man, maybe that was the downfall." Because the week before, I had a really good performance. I guess I just really wanted to have a big song that week, so I took a risk. I never really did rock. I think it could have been one of the variables. Being so late in the competition, you don't want to have a performance like that. The thing is, everything in that performance was good up to that point. I rehearsed that scream so much that I really hurt my vocal cords. It takes a lot to hurt 'em, and that one did it, because I was sore. ... It was funny, though.

Q: How do you think next week's finale will play out?

A: Kris, obviously he's really artistic. And Adam has a way of capturing the audience. ... I'm gonna say it like this: People need to vote. Don't automatically assume someone's going to win. Don't have your assumptions. If you want a certain person to win, you gotta vote. This competition is not over yet. This is gonna be a very tight race.

Q: Do you think, at this point, it's required to rearrange your songs every week?

A: I really do. I think you have to change up every song. ... At this point, it's more than singing. People want to see a creative element. They want to see an old song made fresh again. ... You can't go on singing the same arrangement of an old song. You'll get bashed. [Laughs.]

Q: Did you feel extra pressure as an early front-runner on the show?

A: Absolutely. I felt like I had so much on me in the beginning of the show, that I had to outdo myself every week. It was a battle for me on the show, just internally. I was still growing as a musician. I thought at times that I just wasn't there yet. I don't think the show ever works out for front-runners, since there's so much expectancy on one person. But then you see another person where there's no expectancy on them, they'll show up and they can just wow the crowds because people just weren't expecting it. When you come and you have expectation for something and it doesn't work out the way you wanted it, you get disappointed.

Q: When Kris was the first person to be told he was safe, did you have a feeling you would be going home?

A: I knew it was it for me. I was very confident in the fact that it was it for me. Actually, all day I thought it was it for me. Did I want it to be it for me? No. I wanted to go for the gold, just like they did, and it didn't work out that way. The thing is, I'm a competitor by nature. I like to compete. I gave it what I gave it. Looking back, would I have done things different? Absolutely. But the one thing I can say is, I'm proud of my accomplishments, coming from losing my wife 10 months ago to where I am today. It wasn't just a show I was in. I was battling different things. Not only in this competition did I keep my head up, but I also had to deal with that whole end of the spectrum, losing my wife. I saw strength in me that I didn't know I had.

Q: Did it bother you at all that Simon so openly lobbied for Adam on Tuesday?

A: It is what it is. It doesn't make me mad. It doesn't disappoint me. That's what [Simon] believes is going to make the most money. Take what I say with a grain of salt ... but I didn't get into this thing for the money. I didn't get into this so I can live this glamorous lifestyle. Does that come with this career? It will. But my goal is so different and maybe didn't line up with the goals of what they see as a pop star. I'm OK with that. I want to have a movement with my music. My vision is a little different, so it's OK with me. The thing is, I love Simon. I can't hate on him. The guy is bad to the bone. [Laughs.]

Q: You showcased quite a few pairs of glasses on the show. Did you keep accumulating them throughout the season?

A: I started in the beginning of the season with 15, and now, I [have] about 50 or more. Being on "American Idol," the blessings of glasses have rained from the sky. I really would like to start a Danny line or a Gokey line of eyeglasses.

Q: Were you surprised that Allison Iraheta went home during rock week and you didn't?

A: The whole amount of the show, I was surprised I kept going. She is a rocker. As everyone in the world can see, I am not a rocker. I think it also goes to show that I have pretty strong support out there. It affirms me as an artist. I'm pretty confident when I put out a CD that hopefully that will still shine through.

Q: What kind of music do you see yourself making?

A: I really want to do a soulful album, but I want to mix it with nice beats, like nice R&B beats, beats that get people's heads moving, and mix it with a hint of a Latin vibe. I was with my wife for 12 years, she was Puerto Rican, and I'm so into salsa and merengue, and I want to mix it in one arena.

Q: Did you hear any rumblings backstage about how close the vote was this week?

A: I didn't really hear any rumors, but I just know that it was neck to neck. I believe it was, and that's all I can say. I really believe it was a neck-to-neck race — or I hope so. [Laughs.]

Cam'ron Thought About Retiring From Rap

Plus: Drake says his rhymes are 'more intimate' than mentor Lil Wayne's, in Mixtape Daily.
By Shaheem Reid, with additional reporting by Rahman Dukes and Jayson Rodriguez

src="http://www.mtv.com/shared/promoimages/bands/c/camron/camron051109/281x211.jpg"/>

Cam'ron

Photo: Asylum

The legendary Cam'ron and hip-hop "It" kid Drake. We know you guys are still loving Drake's So Far Gone mixtape, but are you rocking that new Cam'ron album yet? How do you feel about Killa's return, and does his new album stack up against Purple Haze, or Come Home With Me and his other pre-Dipset joints? Let us know in the comments section. It's day two of week two of the new Mixtape Daily, and again, we want to send love for all the support. Keep checking for us at MTVNews.com Monday-Friday, and — duhn, duhn, duhn, duhn! — at our brand-new URL: Mixtape.MTV.com. Let's go in!

Don't Sleep: Necessary Notables

Independent Album: Crime Pays

Starring: Cam'ron

Records We Can't Stop Playing: "Got It for Cheap," "Silky" and "Get It in Ohio"

Essential Info: One thing Cam'ron said he doesn't know how to do is fall back. Killa told us that even before his three-year hiatus — during which he spent a significant amount of time taking care of his mother who had three strokes — he contemplated retiring from rap.

"It was a time when I was thinking about that, before my moms got sick," Cam admitted. "I was like, 'All right, I got everybody off the ground. I kinda been doing this for a while. Let me fall back and maybe look into some other things.' "

Cam said he couldn't stop coming up with lines. "During that time period, I'd be somewhere eating, thinking of some rhymes. Or I'd be in my living room, thinking of some rhymes. I can't stop even if I wanted to stop," he explained. "It doesn't matter where I'm at — if I'm somewhere sitting still for more than an hour, rhymes start popping in my head. ... It's just kinda instilled in me."

Cam drops his long-overdue Crime Pays on Tuesday, and when he spoke with us, he came on the humble. Homie is genuinely glad to be back.

"I'm just privileged to still be around," he said. "You got people that come in, one album, two albums, and they're gone. A lot of people couldn't take the break I took and come back into the game and people be checking for them. People would be like, 'F--- him.' That's the one thing I did realize taking this break, how much love I got. When you constantly working, working, you don't really get to appreciate the fans and people loving your stuff. Places I went to where I didn't even know people listen to rap, there were [fans] that would be like, 'Please come back.' "

Skitzo and AraabMuzik did the majority of the beats, and Killa rocked most of the records with no guest rappers. Everyone talks about the reunion of Cam and the Dipset, but can we get some Killa over Just Blaze and Kanye beats again?

Mixtape: So Far Gone

Starring: Drake

Records We Can't Stop Playing: "Successful" (featuring Trey Songz and Lil Wayne), "Ignant Sh--" (featuring Lil Wayne), "A Night Off" (featuring Lloyd) and "Say What's Real"

Essential Info: We mentioned this same mixtape early this year when we were only going once a week. Now that we're daily, it gives us a little more freedom to properly trumpet the sounds of Drake. Young Drizzy continues to show us that in just a few weeks, your buzz can go from 20 mph to off-the-charts. (Well, it feels like a short time, but this is Drake's third mixtape since 2007.) So Far Gone not only has him doing sold-out shows across the world, but it also throws his name in the hat for Rookie of the Year and, possibly, Mixtape of the Year.

The Toronto native came with a two-pronged attack of singing and rapping, with guest spots from a few homies, including Omarion, Trey Songz, Lil Wayne and Bun B. The former "Degrassi: The Next Generation" actor also hasn't given up on seeing his name on the cover of TV Guide or even your local movie-theater marquee.

"I like to give things to people, so whether it be a movie or I have a TV show that me and one of my best friends [fellow 'Degrassi' actor] Mazin Elsadig did," he said. "We write. It's comedy comparable to, like, Judd Apatow and Michael Cera, but with black people in it. So, I mean, there's all kinds of forms of self-expression, and it carries over, obviously, into music. My music is really personal. It's really based on honesty, so it's not much acting involved. And you know Wayne is a character when he performs, when he spits, he's animated. With me, with rapping, it's more intimate, it's more organic and more personal. My music, I think there's more acting on the business side of it than the music side of it."

Eminem's First Album, Infinite, Now Available For Download

Rare first LP can now be found on 50 Cent's Web site.

Eminem's Infinite

Photo: Web Entertainment

Back in 1997, Eminem recorded The Slim Shady EP, the collection of songs that Dr. Dre first heard before signing him to Aftermath, and that would later serve as the basis for the Detroit rapper's debut, The Slim Shady LP.

But prior to Slim Shady's twisted, demented shock rap, Eminem was a battle-rapper at heart who was still searching for his lyrical voice.

His first album, 1996's Infinite, showcases the Shady one with a more measured flow and lower vocal register.

The hard-to-find indie album was made available for free download on Wednesday (May 13) on ThisIs50.com, the Web site founded by Em's protg 50 Cent.

"I recorded Infinite in 1995, my first album," Em said in his 2008 autobiography, "The Way I Am." "It sold maybe 70 copies and didn't get great feedback. A lot of people said it sounded like Nas, and he was a heavy influence at the time. But I had an album out, and I could say that. With The Slim Shady EP, it was a different story. That sh-- got some buzz in the underground, and online sites couldn't keep it in stock. I started getting calls about shows."

The 11-track album features a handful of guests, most notably Denaun Porter, who was also a member of Eminem's D12 crew under the name Kon Artis.

Infinite track list:

1. "Infinite"

2. "W.E.G.O. (Interlude)"

3. "It's O.K." (featuring Eye-Kyu)

4. "313" (featuring Eye-Kyu)

5. "Tonite"

6. "Maxine" (featuring Denaun Porter)

7. "Open Mic" (featuring Thyme)

8. "Never 2 Far"

9. "Searchin' " (featuring Denaun Porter)

10. "Backstabber"

11. "Jealousy Woes"

Kris Allen's 'Heartless': The Story Behind The Cover

'American Idol' contestant makes a bold move with Kanye West song.
By Gil Kaufman

Kris Allen performs "Heartless" on "American Idol" on Tuesday

Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Fox

Kris Allen needed a game changer to prove to the "American Idol" judges — and maybe to America — that he belongs in next week's finale. And on Tuesday night, he found it.

In one of the boldest moves to date by the understated 23-year-old, Allen stunned the room when he followed up a straightforward take on judge Kara DioGuardi's pick, OneRepublic's "Apologize," with a solo acoustic ramble through Kanye West's "Heartless." The choice even had frequent detractor Simon Cowell admitting that the Conway, Arkansas, native may have punched a ticket to the top two.

The song was bold for any number of reasons, not the least of which is that the original song is still being played on the radio and came out as a single last November, albeit in a much, much different form.

Allen stripped the heavily Auto-Tuned, robotic track down to its barest essentials, completely switching it up into a soulful, bossa nova, acoustic-guitar jam you might hear a street troubadour playing in the subway or at a sidewalk caf.

"Heartless" appears on West's 2008 album 808s & Heartbreak, itself a major departure for the supremely confident rapper, who, for the most part, set aside his rhyming to sing heavily processed vocals about various kinds of heartache. The tune made its debut at a charity show last summer during the Democratic National Convention in Denver. Kanye himself performed the song on "American Idol" for the March 11 results show.

"Heartless," which chronicles 'Ye's heartbreak over a particularly messy breakup, finds West singing, "Somewhere far along this road he lost his soul/ To a woman so heartless .../ How could you be so Dr. Evil?/ You bringin' out a side of me that I don't know/ I decided we weren't gon' speak so/ Why we up 3 a.m. on the phone?"

The "Heartless" video, directed by lauded hip-hop lensman Hype Williams, is a rotoscope-animated homage to legendary animator Ralph Bakshi's "American Pop" movie and features Kanye wandering through a neon city.

Perhaps borrowing a page from fellow finalist Adam Lambert's playbook, Allen isn't the first rocker to take on "Heartless." Earlier this year, Denver-based piano rockers the Fray took a swing at the song, also slowing it down into an angsty acoustic ballad. West, who has yet to weigh in on the Allen cover, clearly appreciated the Fray's take, since he posted a link to it on his blog.

News broke Thursday (May 14) that Kristin Cavallari, former "Laguna Beach" star and Lauren Conrad's onetime mortal enemy, would be joining "The Hills" at the end of this season and coming on for the new season this fall. While Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have already shared their excitement for the change, fans aren't quite sure if they're ready for Cavallari to make her reality-TV return.

"I think she's cool," one fan, Megan, told MTV News. "I think she's prettier [than Lauren Conrad]. She makes it interesting. She's a bi---, and I like it."

Meanwhile, her buddy Nicole wasn't quite ready to join Team Cavallari: "I don't think that'd be a good idea. Lauren's better!"

Fans think Cavallari's spicy attitude will get more people tuning in to the show. "I think everyone will watch it because of the drama," Danielle said. "It'll be just like 'Laguna Beach.' "

One fan in particular can't wait for the drama that could erupt between Kristin and fellow drama queen Heidi. "Oh, my God! That's going to be amazing," Valeria said. "The conflict between her and Heidi! Maybe a friendship at first, but then they'll butt heads."

Fans also took to MTVNews.com to react to the news. One commenter, Hayleybop33, said, "I think the show will suck without Lauren. Heidi and Spencer are stupid, so there's no way I'll watch after this season, but I can't wait to see what MTV has Kristin do!!"

Babythugnasty wrote: "I think the next season will definitely be more drama filled, and let's be honest people, isn't that why we glue ourselves to the show in the first place?? ... The truth of the matter is, Kristin C is sure to make the show worth watching if for nothing else than to see a whole hell of a lot more drama ... kudos MTV."

Akon Follows 50 Cent's Lead Into Latin Music

Singer teams up with Dulce Maria, Aventura, Wisin y Yandel.

When 50 Cent teamed up with Wisin y Yandel to collaborate on the reggaetn duo's single, "Mujeres en el Club," he may have started a trend, as more urban artists seem to be popping up on Spanish-language tracks.

Now Akon has joined in, making his foray into the Latin genre by dropping not one but two new singles. The hitmaker recently recorded a remix of his latest smash "Beautiful," featuring Spanish vocals by ex-RBD member Dulce Maria. And last week he joined Bachata stars Aventura to shoot a video in Miami for their blazing new single "All Up to You," along with Wisin y Yandel.

"Working with Akon, it was an experience," Aventura frontman Romeo told MTV News from the video set. "We've never worked with an artist this huge."

According to Romeo, it was Akon who first approached the Bronx, New York-based foursome about working together. And when we asked Akon if we could expect to see more of these collaborations, he said it was only the beginning.

"I think you're gonna see a lot more of that kind of [collaboration between] the whole hip-hop, R&B and the Latino community," Akon said at last month's Billboard Latin Music Awards, where he performed the song live. "We were always connected, we just never actually worked together. So now we're going to start doing that."

It isn't the first time the worlds have collided. Other recent pairings include Daddy Yankee, who scored a hit in 2007 with his "Impacto" remix featuring Black Eyed Peas' Fergie. And Latin pop singer David Bisbal also hit the studio to record a Spanish remix of Rihanna's hit "Hate That I Love You."

There are also a lot more hot collaborations on the horizon. Aventura, for instance, have teamed up with Ludacris and Wyclef Jean for a track called "Spanish Fly" on their next album, The Last, which drops on June 9. Plus, Grammy-winning rap duo Calle 13 revealed exclusively to MTV News during last year's VMAs that they've spoken to Nas about laying down a joint track.

Reggaetón giants Wisin y Yandel, whose new album, La Revolucion, drops late this month, say the growing Spanglish trend is a natural evolution as urban music becomes less about language.

"We're breaking the language barrier working with Akon, working with 50 Cent," Wisin said. "It's about making good music, and I think that's what we're trying to do."

Wisin y Yandel are this month's guest bloggers on MTVTr3s.com — check out their latest post here!

Kevin Smith Ponders Star Trek Sequels Next Khan

FROM MTV.COM:
Recently at MTV News, we’ve spent an unhealthy amount of time talking about J.J. Abrams’ revamped “Star Trek”: the stellar performances from the new cast, the tweaking of “Trek” mythology, where the reinvigorated franchise will go from here. Inevitably, during these intensely nerdy, often argumentative conversations, the name “Khan” arises with a guttural moan [...]

Kings Of Leon To Perform At MTV Movie Awards

'It should be awesome,' guitarist Matthew Followill says; Eminem will also perform at show.

With Andy Samberg hosting and Eminem performing, how do you make the even bigger? How about inviting Kings of Leon?

The scruffy haired Nashville family rockers will perform live on MTV for the first time — and play their first-ever U.S. awards show — on May 31, when they take the stage of the the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California as part of the Movie Awards festivities. Nominees for the awards — which you can vote for right now — were announced on Monday.

"We're excited, it should be awesome. I always watch that stuff on TV," said the band's lead guitarist, Matthew Followill about the show. MTV News caught up with Matthew and KOL drummer Nathan Followill on the band's tour bus just moments before they took the stage for a sold-out show in Cincinnati, Ohio on Tuesday night — and Nathan said he's hoping the Movie Awards gig might help him make his transition to the silver screen.

"Hopefully we can break into our acting careers," he joked. "Maybe an agent or something will come up like, 'Hey, you look pretty good up there, wanna be in my movie?' " The drummer said that if he had to choose what movie he'd like to snag a role in, it would have to be " 'Pineapple Express Part 2,' or something like that."

With their latest album, Only by the Night, selling more than 4 million copies worldwide, the Followills said they're stoked to finally show American audiences what European fans have known for several years: That they're one of the best rock bands around.

But first cousins Matthew and Nathan — singer Caleb and bassist Jared are Nathan's brothers — said while they're not nervous about the Movie Awards gig, they are a bit wary of sharing a stage with Eminem, whom they've never met before. "But I'm pretty sure he would write a rap song about us after he met us, so keep our friendship at a distance!" Nathan joked.

The boys said they were also psyched to meet Jack Black, Will Ferrell and especially, Nathan said, Liv Tyler.

Among the list of presenters for the show are Denzel Washington, Cameron Diaz, Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell, Vanessa Hudgens, Leighton Meester, Jonah Hill and Lil Wayne.

Justin Guarini Still Hopes To Be On 'New Moon' Soundtrack

'I'm just happy they are considering it,' the 'American Idol' alum says of his song, 'I Can't Live.'

Long before rumors emerged that Kelly Clarkson may have a song on the "New Moon" soundtrack, fellow "American Idol" alum and "From Justin to Kelly" co-star Justin Guarini was launching a campaign to get his song "I Can't Live" on the album for "Twilight" sequel.

Believe it or not, Guarini insists that he's not just trying to bank on the success of the franchise. He says it's because he's a big "Twilight" fan. "I'm a fan of the books," Guarini told MTV News. "At the time I went in to write this song, the two other writers were talking about the books, and we got into a conversation about it. As we were writing it, we thought, there's a new movie coming out, and so why not give it a shot? And so, we sent it in."

Although Guarini's "New Moon" fate is still up in the air, he did say that the folks at the Chop Shop, the film's music supervisors, have told him they've given the song a listen and will let him know if he makes the cut as soon as the decision is made. Guarini said that's more than enough recognition for now. "I'm just happy they are considering it," said the TV Guide Channel host, who's currently working on his third full-length album. "It would be an honor to be on the soundtrack."

Guarini said that the response from Twilighters has been mixed, however. Some fans have been supportive, while others have been "dead set against it." "The reason why I posted the demo is because I really know that the 'Twilight' fans are really protective of the 'Twilight' brand," he said. "I really wanted to see what they had to say about the song, and I'm pleased and thankful that the response has been generally positive."

'These kids know I lived the life ... They know I've seen the likely outcome of their mistakes,' MC says to the crowd.

T.I. in Harlem, New York, on Monday

Photo: MTV News

T.I. recently had time to chop it up with friends Young Jeezy and Nelly as they took in the Atlanta Hawks playoff game versus the Cleveland Cavaliers at Atlanta's Philips Arena. Soon after, the King of the South made his way from his hometown up to Harlem, New York, to join forces with the Reverend Al Sharpton and his National Action Network to speak out against gun violence following the tragic the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Corey Squire.

Just days away from beginning his jail sentence for felony weapons charges, a relaxed Tip addressed the many onlookers who came out to show their support for the "Bury Da Beef" campaign.

"First of all, I want to apologize to everyone," T.I. said, referring to his own publicized weapons case. He also talked about the mistakes he's made and explained why he's the perfect person to speak to the youth today.

"I know what it's like," he continued. "I've come into Harlem, I've spoken at schools before. These kids know I lived the life I'm now living. They know I've seen the likely outcome of their mistakes. I've caught cases, I've been to jail, I've had attempts on my life and I'm still standing. I've learned from it. I have the experience that living this life of crime — I know where they're headed."

Tip also expounded on the ramifications of gun violence.

"We don't understand the pain that goes on with mothers and fathers and sisters and brothers," he said about the victims of gun violence. "There are households being destroyed. You're not just killing a man, you're killing a family. But just like we can destroy, we can rebuild, and that's what we're here to do."

Immediately following the rally, T.I. — flanked by his Warner Music Group boss Kevin Liles, fellow MC and possible future labelmate Ja Rule and members of his K.I.N.G. Foundation — participated in a peace walk, visiting the site where Squire's life was cut short by a hail of bullets. Before his exit, a confident T.I. assured the audience he'd emerge from his prison sentence stronger than ever.

"When I get back — 'cause I will be back — you'll see me standing stronger, wiser and richer."

Simon Cowell Doesn't Think Kris Allen Can Win 'American Idol'

'Kris is a nice guy, but he's not a good enough singer to compete with Adam,' the judge says.
By Eric Ditzian

There are still three aspiring "Idol"s left on the stage of the talent competition, but to hear judge Simon Cowell tell it, only one has a shot at winning. A day after telling Oprah Winfrey that Adam Lambert would be the last man standing because he's "got swagger," Cowell announced that Kris Allen doesn't have the vocal chops to win "Idol."

On the Fox News morning show "Fox and Friends," Cowell told co-host Brian Kilmeade that Allen shouldn't even make the top two. "I'd love [Adam] in the final, really with Danny [Gokey], because Kris is a nice guy but he's not a good enough singer to compete with Adam. The only one who can compete with Adam on vocals is Danny."

There are no doubt millions of diehard Allen-ites who would beg to differ, as well as many who may not love the 23-year-old singer but still believe he's poised to win the competition. Allen's combination of bro-next-door appeal and radio-friendly style, MTV News' James Montgomery argued, make him a much surer bet than the vocally dexterous but perhaps not commercially viable Lambert.

"Kris Allen is about as likeable and relatable as they come," Montgomery wrote. "He's a good-looking, sorta-sensitive, guitar-strumming, God-fearing everydude from Arkansas ... [He] has a voice that's tailor-made for radio. Listen to any top-40 station (or even any album-oriented rock station), and you could hear his voice in most of the songs. Shoot, his takes on 'Falling Slowly' or 'Ain't No Sunshine' could be on radio stations today."

Of course, there are legions of Lambert and Gokey devotees who believe their guy is a lock to triumph in this eighth "Idol" season. One of those believers is Senior Writer Gil Kaufman. "Lambert will win because he's consistently brought his 'A' game, has strived to be original, has not let the whisper campaign about his sexuality interfere with his victory march and because he's inspired a truly rabid cult of "glambert" fans who hang on his every glittery-eyelid flutter," wrote Kaufman.

50 Cent Watches 'Gossip Girl' To Check Out Co-Star Chace Crawford

'It's cool just to be in the presence of talented artists,' Fif says of working with Kiefer Sutherland, Ellen Barkin on 'Twelve.'

Initially, hearing Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson talk about "Gossip Girl" heartthrob Chace Crawford might seem unusual, but it makes a lot more sense when you remember that the duo are working together on the new movie "Twelve."

Fif did his research on Crawford, checking out a few episodes of his teen drama. "I got a chance to see it," he told MTV News.

"Twelve" — which director Joel Schumacher is shooting now in New York — also stars Kiefer Sutherland, Emma Roberts and Ellen Barkin. The film is based on Nick McDonell's debut novel of the same name. McDonell, who wrote the book in 2002, was only 17 when it was published.

"It's cool just to be in the presence of talented artists," added the rapper, who plays Harlem drug dealer Lionel in the flick, which is expected to be released in the winter of 2010. "It's an interesting character. The dynamics are kind of exciting."

"Twelve" centers on a high school dropout named White Mike, played by Crawford, who deals pot and an ecstasy-like upper called "Twelve" to Manhattan's young and rich. Mike avoids touching the stuff, preferring instead to observe the privileged individuals who buy it. But his easy profits go sour when his dealer's cousin is brutally murdered and his best friend is arrested for the crime. The story takes place over a dizzying and decadent five days.

Will the vampires grab more Golden Popcorns than the slumdog? What was the year's ultimate onscreen WTF moment? It's up to you to decide the winners of the 2009 MTV Movie Awards.
